Sourcing copra from Indonesia for export
Copra is dried coconut kernel used as a raw material for coconut-oil processing and other commercial applications. For export buying, the specification should be agreed against the actual offered lot.
1. Confirm the drying method
Ask how the offered lot has been dried. The drying method and actual visual condition should be confirmed before quotation or shipment.
2. Define the target moisture and quality
Commercial evaluation can include moisture, colour or appearance, cleanliness, mould, smoke or soot condition where relevant, foreign matter, rancid odour and overall kernel condition.
3. Agree on packaging
Packaging depends on moisture condition, shipment size and buyer handling requirements. Woven bags, jute or another agreed bulk configuration may be discussed per lot and shipment plan.
4. Confirm MOQ and lead time per lot
MOQ and lead time depend on lot availability, quality specification, packaging and the intended shipment plan. They should be confirmed in the commercial quotation.
5. Review destination documents
Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin and other applicable destination documents can be coordinated as required. Phytosanitary, fumigation, inspection or laboratory requirements should be confirmed according to the destination and contract.
6. Send a complete inquiry
Include your target moisture or quality, required quantity, destination, preferred packaging and shipment timing so the commercial discussion can be matched to available supply.
